Focus Learning Academy promotes an effective learning environment that empowers students to develop higher order thinking skills for the 21st Century.

We provide individualized instructions, which affords students the maximum opportunity to become active participants in their educational process. We strive to maintain an open line of communication between teachers, students and parents as we recognize the communal aspect of education.

The Start

Mrs. Ruth Smith, M.S. is the founder and owner of Focus Learning Academy, Inc. Mrs. Smith received a B.S. in Exceptional Student Education from the University of Miami, an M.S. in Exceptional Student Education from Florida International University, and is certified in ALL areas of ESE. She recently retired from Miami-Dade County Public Schools in 2015, after serving students for 35 years. Simultaneously she has been the owner of her own private tutoring company for the past 29 years. Mrs. Smith is truly passionate about the education of today's youth and lifts them up where they can reach their highest potential. Each child is assessed one on one by Mrs. Smith so that their individual specific needs can be recognized and addressed. No matter the goal, wether it be passing a standardized test, studying for an upcoming exam, or working towards a diploma or degree, Mrs. Smith and Focus Learning Academy is the place where a child's needs will be met and progress will be made.

Child Safety

At Focus, your childs safety is our top priority. Each child who walks in to our facility is signed in and then within eyesight of a teacher or staff member throughout the duration of their session, until they are picked up by a parent or guardian, at which time they are signed out. Each student has a file which contains essential information and an emergency contact sheet so that in any event we are always able to communicate when it comes to the welfare of a student.

Our Staff

Our tutors have all gone through extensive testing by subject so that we can connect each student with the tutor who is best suited to help them excel and achieve their goals. Each tutor has been processed through a background check and trained to help each student individually and making the most of each section.
